Resurfacing On Highway 83 In Waukesha Set To Last Into Summer

Jul 31, 2023

WAUKESHA, WI — Work to resurface Highway 83 in Waukesha County between the Oconomowoc River and County Line Road was scheduled to begin Monday.

The $1.4 million project includes plans to resurface 2.75 miles of roadway, install new curbs, gutters and barriers near Kilbourne Road, replace guardrails, and paint new markings, according to a news release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

The project comes amid other work on Highway 83 between Highway 167 and County Line Road, officials said. The prime contractor for the resurfacing is Payne & Dolan.

Monday was the first day that through-traffic was blocked from Highway 83 between County VV and Highway 167, WisDOT said. A detour is set on Highway 16, 190, 164 and 167. Near Kilbourne Road, temporary signals will maintain one lane of traffic. The pedestrian bridge is also being removed from the Oconomowoc River and a sidewalk is being added to the roadway bridge, according to WisDOT.

Depending on the weather, officials said the project is set to wrap up by mid-summer 2023.

You can find more information about the resurfacing project on WisDOT's website.
